Rana died in Lucknow on Sunday night

Urdu poet Munawwar Rana has died at the age of 71.
According to reports, Rana died of a cardiac arrest at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow on Sunday (January 14) night.
In a statement, the late poet’s son, Tabrez Rana, told the Press Trust of India that his father “was hospitalized for 14 to 15 days due to illness. He was first admitted to Medanta in Lucknow and then to PGI, where he breathed his last around 11 pm today.”
Many people have paid tribute to Rana on social media.
Chief Spokesperson and Member Working Committee of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, Salman Nizami, wrote, “Heartbroken by the passing of renowned Urdu poet #MunawwarRana sahib. His impactful poetry resonated deeply; a great soul who faced and reflected the challenges of tough times. May his legacy endure!”
The team of Jashn-e-Rekhta festival added, “Deeply saddened by the loss of the legendary Urdu poet Munawwar Rana. Jashn-e-Rekhta mourns the departure of a literary giant.”
