Hanita Bhambri – “Dar Nahi”
New Delhi singer-songwriter Hanita Bhambri first release of 2023 is out just in time for Valentine’s Day in the shape of the synth-pop ballad called “Dar Nahi.” Lyrically, the song talks about “finding a safe haven and solace in a person with whom you feel deeply safe with.”
OAFF, Savera and Lothika — “Feel You Now”
Released last week in advance of V-Day, the composer, producer and vocalist trio of OAFF aka Kabeer Kathpalia, Savera Mehta and Lothika team up with singer-songwriter Ankur Tewari to create a groovy, understated Hindi-English banger “Feel You Now.” The artists talk about leaving things to chance and going with the flow, with a hilarious music video to boot.
Aditi Paul – “Aur Baatein”
Bollywood playback singer Aditi Paul’s new indie release is bluesy romantic pop track titled “Aur Baatein.” The song features acoustic guitar licks while Paul’s deft vocals carry the track. She said, “’Aur Batein’ was conceived on a sleepless night. I was triggered by the random restless thoughts while reminiscing about my own initial stages of falling in love.” The artist added, “’Aur Baatein’ represents the free-spirited romanticism that we all feel when we fall in love. The meaningless, irrational or childish thoughts that doodle the colours of imagination.”
Dynami8 – “Down (feat. Various Artists)”
Hyderabad artist Dynami8 releases a club banger this Valentine’s Day with the trap-leaning track “Down.” Fellow artists such as Vasudev, Rawhit and Whym3 feature on the song as Dynami8 offers slick rhymes about being with his partner.
Bhrigu Sahni — “Everytime” ft Shalmali Kholgade and Karsh Kale
Not every love song needs to be a mushy, romantic tune, as artist Bhrigu Sahni shows us with “Everytime.” Drawing from trip-hop and electronic music, Sahni is joined by singer-composer Shalmali Kholgade and multi-instrumentalist Karsh Kale behind the tabla. The artist invokes ideas of different kinds of love, sometimes complicated and tangled and other times, fully steeped in devotion.
Leo Boys — “Homely”
Shillong hip-hop duo Leo Boys are known to be gritty and cutthroat in their rap, but Sagnik Choudhury and Soumyadeep Dasgupta turn lover boys on their latest track “Homely.” The rappers dedicate their journeys to companions, with a hook that’s funky and recalls pop-punk cadences.
Archiesman Kundu, Rawhit — “Bolbi Na”
Medinipur-bred, Kolkata-based hip-hop artist Archiesman Kundu and producer Rawhit team up for some hopeless romanticism on their latest song “Bolbi Na.” The Bengali and English song is a warm dose of feel-good rap, with Kundu traversing mumble rap, pop and trap styles with his playful verses dedicated to a beloved.
