Vans New Wave Asia Festival 2015 Lineup Announced

With a footfall of around 1000 attendees, the maiden edition of Vans New Wave Asia Festival in 2014 may not have had the biggest turnout, but the independently organized indie and punk fest brought to light some of the freshest acts from around the country, including Goan rock trio Noxious Ire, Mumbai-based blues band Kanchan Daniel and the Beards, New Delhi female punk rockers The Vinyl Records, and many more.

This year’s edition ”” which takes place in Bengaluru from December 25^th to 27^th ”” is also branching out to include more electronica and hip-hop acts, such as rapper MC Kaur, Mumbai bass/hip-hop trip ViceVersa and Bengaluru electronica duo Mode.Aka, apart from rock acts such as Bengaluru prog rockers Parvaaz, Chennai punk trio The Broadway Addicts, rock band Yesterdrive from Arunachal Pradesh and more.

So far, indie rock band Yellow Fang from Thailand, and Malaysian pop-punk act An Honest Mistake are the only two international acts on the lineup, but event organizer and head of record label Ennui.Bomb Rishu Singh says, “We are still talking to other [international] bands and awaiting confirmation, but there will be a few more international acts and plenty more Indian acts which will be announced soon.”

Vans New Wave will take place over two venues in the course of three days, with the Vans Electro-pop Stage taking over gig venue The Humming Tree on the 25^th, while the Vans Main Stage and Vans Indie Stage will host punk, rock and indie artists over the 26^th and 27^th at sports bar and adjacent gaming ground Xtreme Sports Bar/PLaY Arena. Ticket details will be announced by December 1^st.

The festival will also be preceded by a number of pre-gigs across Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad.
