The organisers have promised ticket refunds
Varkala’s Alboe By The Beach festival has been canceled one day before the scheduled start date.
The three-day event was set to take place in Varkala, Kerala, starting tomorrow (Friday, February 9th). The festival had secured performances from artists such as Brodha V, Arivu, Hanumankind, The F16s, Taba Chake, and Frizzell D’Souza, among others.
Beyond the beach festivities that the festival touted, audiences were also promised a closing performance by Bangalore-based prog-fusion band Pineapple Express and their Grand Symphony with a never-seen-before performance that included a 16-piece symphony orchestra.
Along with a variety of food and beverage stalls spread out across the stretch of Aaliyirakkam Beach, the festival claimed to offer handicrafts and indigenous art showcases as well.
When asked about the cause of this last-minute cancellation, an insider source told Rolling Stone India that the festival’s primary sponsors backed out, leading to confusion among the organizers.
It is yet to be confirmed whether the artists on the lineup for Alboe By The Beach will be given a cancellation fee; however, ticket purchasers have been promised refunds for their tickets.
