The four-piece punk rock band plays with The Riot Peddlers and Split today
Among the bands lined up for BOMB Thursdays at Kino 108, Mumbai today, alt rock band Split played last at the three-day festival India Bike Week in Goa and hardcore punk band The Riot Peddlers have just returned from playing two gigs in one day in Delhi
Punk rock band Punk On Toast, though, was last seen live at Blue Frog, Mumbai’s Punk Night in January last year. The four-piece return to gigging after a year at BOMB Thursdays tonight, where they play a 25-minute all originals setlist of 11 songs.
Vocalist/guitarist Aditya Naik and bassist Prathamesh Sandansing dropped by at the ROLLING STONE India office to talk about their music, their previous gigs, their pre-show ritual that included getting a bit high and how they’ve spent the last year working on their debut EP, We Abuse A Lot, So What?, slated for a June release.
When we ask them whether tonight’s gig will have out-of-tune guitars and off key vocals like last year’s gig, Naik promises a gig as “bizarre” as last year’s disastrous debut gig [including a broken guitar string],  with the quartet staying true to their suburban punk image. In case the unthinkable happens [again], Naik says he’s going to carry an extra guitar for tonight.Â
Watch the video below to know what they think of their Blue Frog gig last year, and why they have anarchy-inspired songs such as “Satyagraha Is Gay” and “Democracy Is A Lie.”
Split, The Riot Peddlers and Punk On Toast play at BOMB Thursdays at Kino 108, Mumbai on April 25th, from 9.30pm onwards. Entry Rs 200. Event details here.
