Video Premiere: Wired Anxiety Release Lyric Video for “Severe Comorbidity”

Of all the musicians who juggle day jobs, metalheads are always the most pissed off about working a corporate job. That’s probably why Mumbai death metallers Wired Anxiety are equating 24/7 work culture with a story about a new breed of slaves. Says guitarist Naval Katoch about their upcoming as yet untitled EP, “It’s about how a superior group of people carry out experiments to control people. They develop a breed of people who exist only to serve and become slaves.”

The band, who came together in 2009 and released their debut EP The Eternal Maze in 2012, are giving fans a chapter from the concept story with their new single, “Severe Comorbidity.” Katoch adds, “It’s in this song that one of the humans who is being experimented upon escapes, but already has multiple psychological disorders to the extent that he can’t distinguish between reality and fantasy.”

Wired Anxiety are also planning to wrap up their five-track EP, which will include “Test Subject: Human” and “Heavily Sedated.” As is evident from “Severe Comorbidity,” Wired Anxiety are turning away from groove metal and sticking to pure death metal. Katoch adds, “It’s a genre shift from the first EP. There are a lot more elements of brutal death with slam.”

“Severe Comorbidity,” written in early 2014 and premiered at metal gig series Domination ”“ The Deathfest in June, was recorded in October last year at Demonic Resurrection bassist and producer Ashwin Shriyan’s Mindmap studio. Wired Anxiety also roped in Russian sound engineer Arkady Navaho to mix and master “Severe Comorbidity,” since Navaho had worked with Wired Anxiety’s big influences, Russian death metallers Katalepsy. Katoch adds that they are recording two more tracks with Shriyan in February, and returning to finish the EP in March. Katoch says that they will probably release each track off the EP as a single, and later print limited edition CDs of the entire EP. They are currently in talks with Indian metal label Transcending Obscurity India to release future material.
