The Mumbai-based electronica artist releases her debut music video
The Mumbai-based producer has premiered a video for her single “Good To You,” the last track on Sandunes’ debut album Everbridge, which released in 2013. The track is a blend of two-step and future garage, the sound which Ardeshir is known for, with vocals by Mumbai-based singer and songwriter Siddharth Basrur.
Directed by Mumbai-based Haiderali Amir, the video shot entirely in slow-mo follows an unconventional plot for an electronica track ”“ no laser beams or EDM fans with glow sticks, but two charming old men (Ardershir’s family friends) with toy guns. Says Ardeshir, “I sat with Amir and we tried to think of ideas that would fit with the song, but every time we tried to sync it, it sounded clichéd. We liked the idea of doing something which featured a prank or a joke. Amir pulled together some real magic and we got really lucky.”
Sandunes is producer and composer Sanaya Ardeshir’s solo electronica act and was also Rolling Stone India’s Artist To Watch Out For in 2013. Ardeshir started out as a keyboardist in 2005, playing for everyone from Mumbai jam band Something Relevant to Dave Matthews tribute shows. In 2012, she released a two-track EP titled Temper Tonic. Her next release Sly Bounce which leans toward organic electronica, will be a four-track EP featuring artists such as singer-songwriter Sohrab Nicholson.
