The Mumbai-based singer on turning to crowdfunding for her debut album
Singer Vasuda Sharma took time off from recording her debut album Attuned Spirits and dropped by the ROLLING STONE India office to talk about her gig at The Little Door in suburban Mumbai tonight. That Vasuda is as charming off stage was clear when she helped our intern ease into the interview with a big, disarming smile. In this video, the singer discussed covering some of her favorite artists at tonight’s show, successfully pulling off a crowdfunding project to make her debut album and not being a beatboxer. “I can make the sound of a snare and a kick drum, but that’s it. I can then manipulate them well with a looper, but I can’t beatbox,” she said. Vasuda will be joined by guitarists Zohran Miranda and Jose Neil Gomes with Sankarshan Kini on the cajon at tonight’s gig, where she plans to debut five songs from Attuned Spirits.Â
