Vilen’s ‘Sehra’ Video Rounds Off Introspective ‘Handmade’ EP
The Hindi pop artist is also director and editor of the melancholic song that portrays estranged lovers
New Delhi-born singer-songwriter Vilen plays to his strengths as a melancholic pop heartthrob with his latest song and music video “Sehra,” which also brings in the song “Fir Mile,” an intro track to his latest EP Handmade.
Featuring four tracks – along with a live version of the song “Bawariya” with producer Ravator – Handmade EP showcases a penchant for openhearted, love songs that traverse different moods. In “Sehra,” Vilen also turns director and editor of the music video as he unravels a tale of a romance that once blossomed but has now grown distant, on the cusp of a final farewell. An emotive love ballad, Vilen sings sorrowfully about how some promises have been left unfulfilled.
Together, “Fir Mile” and “Sehra” represent light and dark, with the former showcasing “the enduring hope of reuniting with a lost first love,” according to a press release. It adds, “Delving into themes of longing, societal pressures, and personal growth, this heartfelt track promises to tug at the heartstrings of listeners and remind them of the power of love and resilience.” The new song “Sehra,” on the other hand, works with “introspective lyrics and haunting melodies.”
Vilen – best known for songs like “Chidiya,” “Savan” and “Kyun Dhunde” – adds in a statement, “Seeing listeners’ reaction to ‘Rehbara’ and ‘Bawariya,’ I am extremely excited for these two new songs. We wanted to present the tracks in an unique way so we somehow decided to make a single music video with both the songs. I hope people will enjoy the music and the beautiful music video that we have made with all our heart and soul.”
