Watch AC/DC Channel Club Roots in ‘Rock the Blues Away’ Video

New clip filmed after band's Grammy performance features drummer Chris Slade behind the kit

AC/DC will be hitting stadiums for their upcoming North American tour, but the veteran hard rock group channel their small club days in the new video for “Rock the Blues Away.”

The third video from the group’s new album Rock or Bust (following “Play Ball” and the titular song) juxtaposes the band performing in a Los Angeles club with images of the group posing for photos and their crew loading up gear. AC/DC’s longtime video director David Mallet helmed the clip, which was shot shortly after the group’s devil horn- and pyro-laden Grammy performance.

The clip also marks the video return of drummer Chris Slade, who played on the band’s 1990 LP The Razors Edge and left the band in 1994. While Slade had previously played with the group at this year’s Grammys and will join them on their upcoming summer tour, Shogun drummer Bob Richards had been behind the kit for the band’s other two videos.

Slade will replace longtime AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd, who was arrested last November and charged with drug possession and threatening to kill in New Zealand. While Rudd told New Zealand’s One News, “I’m going back to work with AC/DC, and I don’t care who likes it and who doesn’t” a month after his arrest, there are no signs that he’ll rejoin the band anytime soon. After Rudd’s lawyer quit unexpectedly, the drummer’s trial was delayed until April.

The band will headline Coachella on April 10th and 17th before beginning their “Rock or Bust” tour May 5th in Holland. That leg will run through late July, with the group beginning their U.S. tour August 22nd at Foxborough, MA’s Gillette Stadium.
