Season 8 runner-up performed new single "Welcome to the Show" with Laleh
Adam Lambert returned to American Idol once more before the show’s finale to perform his new single “Welcome to the Show.” The pop star and frequent Queen frontman was the runner-up on Season 8 of the singing competition series.
Lambert began the ominous ballad alone on a smoky, dark stage. As the song built up, Swedish singer Laleh joined the vocalist. Behind them, flames shot up on the stage as the single came to a close.
“Welcome to the Show” is Lambert’s first release following his 2015 album, The Original High. In January, he announced a tour in support of the album, which launched in February. The tour will run in North America through early April, and Alex Newell of reality competition The Glee Project and Fox’s Glee, which Lambert appeared on briefly, has been the tour opener.
Earlier this year, Lambert confirmed an appearance on Fox’s live version of Rocky Horror Picture Show, playing Eddie, the rock & roll-loving, motorcycle-riding delivery guy portrayed by Meat Loaf in the film. Lambert will star alongside Laverne Cox, Reeve Carney, Victoria Justice and Tim Curry in the special, which will air later this year.
