Watch ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo’s Warm, Heartfelt Music Video ‘Focus On Me’

The single is part of the soundtrack of Kakao Webtoon's 'The Villainess is a Marionette'

Brimming with romance, singer, actor and ASTRO member Cha Eun Woo unveils the delicate single “Focus On Me.” Featured on Kakao Webtoon’s The Villainess is a Marionette soundtrack, “Focus On Me” is a remake of singer-songwriter Coffeeboy’s 2021 song of the same title. Coffeboy’s version was originally released as an OST for the SBS drama Racket Boys.

The reimagined version has Cha Eun Woo’s warm vocalizations against a delicate melody of sweet acoustic guitar and piano sounds. As the world slowly steps towards the magic of spring, “Focus On Me” brings back the warmth and appeal of winter ballads, soothing the listener’s soul with every note. As the track progresses, the delicate guitar-piano melody evolves into a sonically rich composition with dreamy synth and soft percussion beats, allowing the singer’s voice to glisten and gleam.

At its core, “Focus On Me” is a heartfelt ballad penned down from the point of view of an empathetic protagonist offering an abundance of support and strength: ” Focus on me/ Listen carefully to me/ The world turns cold for you/ It might give you pain/ It might be hard to survive through the day/ Remember what I said then/ You are not alone.” The lyricism comes from a place of honesty, where the protagonist isn’t afraid of letting go. In fact, they’re nothing but supportive, offering encouragement to pursue one’s aspirations: “Even though the world doesn’t know you/ Eventually, you’ll shine brightly/ Go your way, don’t be humble/ I will always be by your side/ Don’t forget me.”

The lyrical music video employs the charisma of winter with Cha Eun Woo admiring the snowfall from a porch. Donned in a brown, oversized fleece sweatshirt and eggshell trousers, the multifaceted artist displays his celebrated talent as an actor, as he emotes through his eyes and facial expressions.

Launched in February 2021 on Kakao Webtoon, The Villainess is a Marionette is a romance fantasy webtoon based on author Han Yi-rim’s web novel of the same title.
