Watch ASTRO’s Moonbin and Sanha’s Hauntingly Cinematic Music Video for ‘WHO’

The single leads the duo’s sophomore EP ‘Refuge’

Mar 15, 2022

Following the release of their R&B-hip hop pre-release single “Ghost Town,” ASTRO’s Moonbin and Sanha return after a month with “WHO.” Foraying the duo’s second EP Refuge, the lead single acts as an extension to the dark and mature thematic the duo established in the pre-release single.

Written and composed by PCDC, who previously worked with the duo on “Ghost Town,” the latest release amps up the bass as Moonbin and Sanha describe a relationship so consuming that it is practically impossible to escape. There’s a lurking sinister-like atmosphere that establishes the protagonist of the song as a power-hungry narcissist who seeks to be worshiped as opposed to loved and cherished: “You won’t be able to escape woo-e-woo/ Fall for me more and more deeply um.”

Characterized by dance-pop beats, the single comprises powerful bass synth with drum sounds, re-routing the track to an eerie sonic space. The rhythmic, minimalist hook allows the listeners to relish the full extent of the breathy vocalizations, heightening “WHO’s” aural experience.

Mirroring the single’s overarching themes of evil and virtue, the music video is shot in a chapel with stained windows and numerous candles. Cloaked in black ensembles with necklaces dotted in crosses, Moonbin and Sanha steer the track’s eerie, mysterious storyline through powerful choreographed routines.

Moonbin and Sanha made their debut as ASTRO’s first unit in September 2020, with IN-OUT, forayed by the title track “Bad Idea.” Their sophomore EP, Refuge comprises five tracks named- “WHO,” “BOO,” “DIA,” “Distance,” and the pre-release single “Ghost Town.”
