Watch Avril Lavigne Perform ‘Sk8er Boi’ With All Time Low at When We Were Young Festival

The punk-pop singer made a surprise two-song appearance this weekend at the emo/pop-punk festival

Avril Lavigne may not have been part of the line-up for this year’s When We Were Young Festival, but the pop-punk princess made a surprise on-stage appearance during All Time Low‘s set, to the delight of fans.

While the crowd initially thought they were being played a recording of Lavigne’s vocals on the song “Fake As Hell,” the singer’s new collaboration with All Time Low, the audience erupted in cheers when Lavigne appeared onstage alongside the band during their Saturday set.

After finishing the song, Lavigne and the rock band from Maryland, featuring singer/guitarist Alex Gaskarth, guitarist Jack Barakat, bassist Zack Merrick and drummer Rian Dawson, launched into Lavigne’s crowd pleaser “Sk8er Boi.”

This was not Lavigne’s first time performing at the When We Were Young Festival. She was one of the main acts of the festival’s inaugural weekend in 2022, which, despite having to drop out of the second weekend, makes her one of two artists to play both years.

Lavigne has a habit of making surprise appearances. In June, she was brought out on-stage at CMA Fest 2023 by “new bestie” Miranda Lambert for a duet of “Kerosene” and “Sk8er Boi.”

Last year, however, the roles were reversed, as All Time Low jumped onstage during Lavigne’s set to perform a cover of Blink-182’s “All The Small Things.”
