Watch BIBI Live a Mermaid Fantasy in ‘Pado’
Recreating Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid,’ South Korean singer-songwriter writes about a short-lived, heated romance
South Korean R&B vocalist BIBI captures the passion of a fleeting romance in her latest release, “Pado.”
The tropical pop track sees BIBI sing about a romance that’s difficult to let go of: “Lock me in your arms/ It’s like I’m out of breath/ I have no intentions of letting go.” The amorous track then goes on to position the relationship at par with an escape from reality– a force with savior-like characteristics, “You are my wave/Save me mayday/ I only think of you/ I’m a castaway.” As the track concludes, the outro blends in a bass riff with the existing tropical-synth beats, making “Pado” a multi-genre composition.
Featuring South Korean rapper Divo, the music video opens with BIBI lying unconscious on the beach. Unable to recuperate the exotic being, Divo takes her towards a large glass container filled with water. As she regains consciousness, the two fall in love with each other. Through intimate picnic dates to lounging on the beachside, their love blooms and blossoms only to be struck by reality. Knowing their love stands no chance against faith, BIBI remains hopeful, dreaming about an alternate scenario where she grows a pair of functional legs. Inevitably, fate comes knocking in, drawing a wedge between the two star-crossed lovers.
“Pado,” comes days after the South Korean vocalist featured on the official soundtrack of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings alongside GOT7’s Mark Tuan.
