Watch Chris Martin Cover Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Streets of Philadelphia’ Live

Coldplay’s Chris Martin delivered an intimate solo version of Bruce Springsteen‘s “Streets of Philadelphia” during a concert Saturday in that song’s titular city. The singer performed the Oscar-winning ballad ”“ from 1993Â film drama Philadelphia ”“ during the acoustic portion of their set, crooning over strummed-then-looped guitar chords.

Coldplay have covered several classic songs during their latest tour, promoting seventh album 2015’s A Head Full of Dreams. In July, the band recruited British singer Lianne La Havas for an understated rendition of Prince’s “Sometimes It Snows in April.”Â Later that month, they brought out actor Michael J. Fox to perform the Penguins’ “Earth Angel” and Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode,” two tracks featured in Back to the Future.The band’s 2016 tour has also featured a now-standard version of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” paying tribute to the man who infamouslyÂ declined a Coldplay collaboration.

In February, Martin joined James Corden on Carpool Karaoke, where he covered that Bowie classic and offered a spot-on Springsteen imitation. Asked which artists he admires, the singer responded, “Bruce Springsteen, I look up to U2. Bruno Mars.”
