Watch Chungha Bring The Heat With ‘Bicycle’

The empowering track is the lead single off the South Korean pop star’s first full-length album ‘Querencia’

Feb 16, 2021

Following the massive success of “Dream Of You” featuring Moroccon-Dutch DJ R3HAB, South Korean pop singer Chungha keeps the momentum going with her latest offering, “Bicycle.” The song is the lead single off her first full-length album Querencia, a whopping 21-track Korean, English and Spanish language LP that serves as the vocalist’s bid to establish herself as a titan in the K-pop industry.

The music video for “Bicycle” connects themes of independence, power, and self-reliance, all with a strong backdrop of sensuality. Chungha introduces a playful yet fierce side of herself through grunge-inspired leather ensembles, neon cinematography and an overall futuristic finish. The singer also offers the audience a chance to witness her stronghold over complex choreography with the addition of a crisp dance break right before the track ends. Chungha is quick to switch between her performance styles within the first few minutes of the Latin-trap number, alternating low, sultry vocals with a few touches of confident rap.

The multi-genre approach adapted in “Bicycle” is distinctively different from what Chungha has released in the past. Leading up to the release of Querencia, the pop star gave us a taste of what to expect with three pre-releases–the deep house-inspired “Stay Tonight,” Latin pop-flavored “Play” and the pop-ballad “X.”

With her debut album, Chungha demonstrates her versatility as a vocalist but also gives the audience a bigger glimpse of her rap and songwriting capabilities. Querencia features an impressive roster of collaborators from the Korean R&B and hip-hop scene including Changmo, Guaynaa and Colde.
