The Super Bowl 50 halftime performers offered up a preview of their exuberant, colorful live shows Monday when Coldplay visited The Late Late Show With James Corden to perform the title track off their new LP A Head Full of Dreams .
Coldplay’s Super Bowl performance on February 7th will no doubt feature some special guests ”“ like Bruno Mars ”“ so it was only fitting that host Corden join the band to play the song’s outgoing piano coda. Bandleader Reggie Watts then stormed the stage to scat with Chris Martin and Corden. In an interview with Rolling Stone , Indianapolis Colts owner and Beatles fanatic Jim Irsay, who also serves on the Super Bowl Advisory Committee, voiced his support for the British rockers. “I think Coldplay is one of the best and biggest bands of the last 15 years, and I think they’ll bring the energy,” Irsay said. “Coldplay is a great choice. It’s always tough to decide what should go in Super Bowl halftime, but I was all for Coldplay. They really have a magical, spiritual ability to do it live.”
