Watch Damon Albarn, Noel Gallagher, Paul Simonon Cover Gorillaz

Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde also joins ramshackle supergroup for Clash covers during performance at Simonon's 60th birthday party

Former Clash bassist Paul Simonon celebrated his 60th birthday by forming an all-star, one-night-only supergroup with Damon Albarn, Noel Gallagher and the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde on Sunday night. The band played a variety of classic Clash tracks (“The Guns of Brixton,” “Brand New Cadillac”) and selections from Albarn’s vast catalog, including Gorillaz and Simonon-assisted the Good, the Bad & the Queen, Stereogum reports.

Several audience-shot videos find the group covering Gorillaz’ club-friendly single “D.A.R.E.”, with Albarn and Gallagher trading off vocals on the chorus. Another brief clip teases the intro riff to “Brand New Cadillac” and includes a snippet of Hynde strutting onstage.

The Good, the Bad & the Queen’s self-titled 2007 LP featured Simonon and Albarn collaborating with the Verve guitarist Simon Tong, Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen and producer Danger Mouse. Simonon also made a guest appearance on Gorillaz’ third LP, 2010’s Plastic Beach.

In a 2014 interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Albarn said he’s already written another Good, the Bad & the Queen album and is trying to find time to record it.
