With eight nominations including Best Band, Best Album for The Demon King, which released in 2014, and Best Song for the title track of the album, Mumbai-based demonic metal (which according to them is a mix of death, power and black metal) band, Demonic Resurrection, is one of the front runners at the Rolling Stone Metal Awards 2015. The band has always had an immense fan following in India, and around the world, and has been a crowd favorite since the very first edition of the awards.

In 2010, the band was nominated in five categories and took home two trophies for Best Song for their track “The Unrelenting Surge of Vengeance” and Best Album for their debut release The Return to Darkness. Judged by artists such as Jason Bittner, drummer of American metal act Shadows Fall and Canadian hardcore-punk outfit Cancer Bats’ lead vocalist Liam Cormier, the night proved to be quite fulfilling for DM, except in the category of Best Band, where they lost to Mumbai-based extreme metal band Infernal Wrath.

Rolling Stone India caught up with DM’s frontman Sahil Makhija in his studio, where he recounted his experience at RSMA 2010. Watch the video below to hear his story.

Voting in three public choice awards ”“ Best Band, Best Song and Best Album ”“ is now open. You can vote here.
