Delhi EDM artist Sahej Bakshi reminisces about Los Angeles in the music video for his new single
For an artist who’s studied in Los Angeles, Sahej Bakshi knows how to make sure he’s not just another Indian face surrounded by white folks in the first music video for his new single, “Lumina.” Right out of a modern version of the movie Ghost, Bakshi only has a brief cameo in the video, which follows a girl who is smitten by a band’s guitarist after seeing them live ”“ a story that might have been inspired by true incidents, given Bakshi’s female fan following.
Directed by the LA-based music video filmmaker Isaac Ravishankara, who has previously shot videos for artists such as Keith Urban, 3OH!3, Phantogram and KT Tunstall, among others, “Lumina,” is Bakshi’s first single after the release of his debut album Doppelganger in March last year. This is also the first composition featuring Bakshi’s vocals over his signature laidback glitch-meets-electronica sound. The music is uncharacteristically cheery for the video that explores the afterlife, but then Bakshi has always been about happy-making music.
