Netflix announces the final season of the Spanish heist saga will air in September and December

A still from the teaser for 'Money Heist' upcoming season.

The global blockbuster crime series, Money Heist or La Casa De Papel, is coming to an end with Part 5, and, aptly, we’ve got a glimpse of its magnitude. Netflix announced the release dates via a power-packed slow-motion teaser. Split into two, Part 5 of Money Heist will see Volume 1 released internationally on September 3rd and Volume 2 would follow on December 3rd.

With 2WEI’s cover of Linkin Park’s “In The End” aiding the visuals, the teaser captures the sense of impending doom that The Gang feels as they spend over four days stuck in the Bank of Spain. The teaser shows the emotion of every member following a tumultuous journey and gives us an idea of what’s to come. As we see a flash of The Professor’s tied hands, it makes us wonder if Inspector Sierra has finally stood up to her claim and taken him hostage. An onslaught of machine gun firing from the police force on one side and our injured and enraged heroes with their own armed force on another – which side will win? The robbery of the Bank of Spain has turned into an all-out war.

Creator Alex Pina stated that they wanted to change the expectation from Part 5. Volume 1 encapsulates the essence of the season finale with hard-hitting action and decisive turns in the story, whereas Volume 2 will be more about the characters and will be “ a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”
Money Heist Part 5 will star many of its core cast including Úrsula Coberó as Tokyo, Miguel Herrán as Río, Álvaro Morte as The Professor, Itziar Ituño as Lisbon, Jaime Lorente as Denver and Esther Acebo as Stockholm. The season finale will also see the addition of Miguel Ángel Silvestre and the Spanish Academy Award-nominee Patrick Criado.
