Ahead of their multi-city tour across India, the Hyderabad death metallers are in nonstop prep mode
As if it’s not bad enough that albums, songs and EPs take a tediously long time to fund and release, music videos come with their own share of hurdles, as Hyderabad death metallers Godless learned.
In September last year, they got together and moved their gear into an old dilapidated hall (the ones that metal bands are known to love) in a disused palace located in the city center. With all their permissions in place, the band spent the day shooting the video with videographer Siri Sri (from Vizag heavy metallers Against Evil) and his team, Into the Lens. “We cleaned up the place, as much as we could,” says bassist Abbas Razvi.
The result is a monochrome visual melee that aims to match “Oneiros,” off their debut 2016 EP Centuries of Decadence. But it took until later this year for the video to be out. Timed with their upcoming six-city tour supporting Australian death metallers Psycroptic and New Delhi prog/death metallers Fragarak, Razvi says they’ve been rehearsing four times a week. He adds, “We’re adding a few new elements in the set, changing up tones and working with samples. This kind of tour is something we always wanted to do, because we want to go abroad and tour eventually.”
The tour, which includes stops in Guwahati, Shillong, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Pune between August 3rd and 13th, will see Godless introduce new songs like “From Beyond.” Razvi adds, Once the tour’s done, we’ll work on the rest of the new songs.”
