The pop star, actor and entertainer makes his return to music after two years with a brand new English single
Chinese-Candian pop star Henry Lau — also known mononymously as Henry — has made his return to music after two years with a brand new English single titled “Moonlight.” The singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist first teased the new track on social media last week.
Written by Henry and composed by producers Tyler Spry and Simon Oscroft, “Moonlight” is a bouncy indie-pop number filled with bright guitar and upbeat percussion. In the lyrics, Henry urges listeners to forget about their worries and live in the moment by dancing to their favorite song: “Let’s get to forgetting everything that went wrong/ Everybody here, we been crying too long/ We can dance about it to our favorite song/ So meet me underneath the moonlight/ Light the fire, get your mood right/ Must be something in the air, cause I don’t even care/ Gonna dance until the sunrise.”
The music video sees Henry take a long drive through a city at night. The clip is filled with shots of various other people in the same city dancing alone, escaping the troubles in their daily lives with music. They all find each other and gather to dance together and erase their loneliness and sadness. Towards the end, Henry pushes through the crowd and opens a door to a rooftop to see that the sun is finally rising.
“Moonlight” is Henry’s first release after his 2020 EP Journey. The singer-songwriter, actor and multi-instrumentalist began his career with K-pop group Super Junior-M, but has since gone on to build a massive career as a soloist. More recently he participated as a team captain in the popular Chinese dance reality show, Street Dance of China.
