Over 15 artists were involved in the making of new fusion collaboration 'Synthesis - The Indian Muse,' including Kutle Khan, Sunita Bhuyan, Sonam Kalra and more.

To mark India’s Independence Day last month, over 15 artists and instrumentalists converged on a new fusion track called “Synthesis – The Indian Muse,” brought together by music curation and management company ShowCase Events.

Staying true to the nature of pandemic projects that have been proficiently pieced together remotely, “Synthesis – The Indian Muse” was composed by guitarist-producer Ravi Iyer, featuring lyrics written by K.C. Loy and has been mixed and mastered by Aslam Khan.

The trio worked with vocalists such as Dhanashree Pandit-Rai, Kutle Khan, Sonam Kalra, Sunita Bhuyan (also adding violin portions with Ambi Subramaniam) and Anushree Gupta. Instrumentalists featured are Nagara exponent Nathulal Solanki to flute artist Pandit Ajay Prasanna, sitarist Hidayat Husain Khan, rabab player Nazir Ganaie and tabla artist Ustad Fazal Qureshi, among others.

Dhanashree Pandit-Rai said in a statement about the project, “No greatness can be achieved without some craziness right at the start. The most exciting part for us all was to see the song germinate bit by bit. First, we got the catchy melodic line, then the lyrics came in and seamlessly blended with the music, then came the instrumental bits, and vocal parts from different artists. Each time the song would come back with something added in, and watching it grow was very exciting.”

The music video for “Synthesis – The Indian Muse” also brought in Kathak dance artist Aditi Bhagwat as well as Bharatnatyam performer Sohini Roy Chowdhury. ShowCase Events’ chief executive Nanni Singh said in her statement that the virtual production was made from love and bonding. “This song is an amalgamation of the collective sounds and moves of our country. 16 artists and a dedicated production team came together to create what we are tremendously happy to call our song,” Singh adds.
