Lucknow-bred New Delhi singer-songwriter Jatin Sharma pays tribute to the Indian Para-athletes in his inspiring new “Asmanjas” video.

The clip ”“ directed by New Delhi-based Viplav Vishal ”“ opens with a shot of Sharma and his band walking up to their instruments in a desert region interspersed with footage of the athletes warming themselves up (stretches, lunges, light jogging) for training. Amidst shots of men and women in track and field action such as pole vaults, javelin and running, Sharma rocks out.

“I didn’t want a happy video, I wanted to reflect the state of mind, its strength and the fact that everything we are looking [for] outside is within. We wanted to create an influential video and we wanted to feature real examples,” says Sharma. The music video was shot at the Sports Authority of India in Bengaluru and Sambhar Lake, Rajasthan.

Sonically, “Asmanjas” brings riff heavy guitar parts, energetic drum grooves, thumping bass lines and of course Sharma’s soaring vocals. The singer says he wanted to address the confusion in people’s lives through an inspirational track. “I wrote it for people who always blame luck, destiny or time for not being able to live fully or pursue their dreams.”

The song was recorded at New Delhi’s RNG Records, produced by Navneet R. Singh and mixed and mastered by Mohit Goyal. Both Singh and Goyal play guitar and keyboard for Sharma’s band, respectively. Next, the vocalist plans on dropping his third single “Bhram” in December and also in the pipeline is his yet-to-be titled debut EP due to release early next year.
