From all the team-ups at Global Citizen Festival to Taylor Swift singing with Steven Tyler and Mick Jagger, it’s been a wild weekend for unexpected duets, and now Foo Fighters are getting in on the fun: During the band’s Phoenix, Arizona stop Friday night, Dave Grohl and company brought out Jewel to join the band for a boisterous cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.”

As Grohl told the crowd prior to the unrehearsed “Whole Lotta Love,” he initially planned on playing “some nice thing that we thought would sound good,” but Jewel, his “good friend,” decided against that pre-show. “She says to me, ‘I don’t want to do that,'” Grohl told the Ak-Chin Pavilion crowd (via Diffuser). “She says, ‘I wanna do this,'” launching into the Led Zeppelin II classic’s riff. The “Whole Lotta Love” was so impromptu that Jewel actually wrote out the song’s lyrics on her hand, a guide she only needed to reference a few times during the performance.

The “Whole Lotta Love” cover comes weeks after the Foo Fighters performed alongside Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones and Queen’s Roger Taylor. Earlier in the week, the band were joined by Stevie Nicks and Haim in Los Angeles.

Foo Fighters are currently out on the road with Gary Clark Jr. serving as opening act, and that Austin rocker later came out during the Foos’ set to perform “What Did I Do? God Is My Witness,” their collaborative track from the band’s Sonic Highways LP.
