Watch Justin Bieber Get Animated in Jack Ãœ’s ‘Where Are Ãœ Now’ Video
“We wanted to just take it back to the beginning of the record and essentially create an ode to our fans,” say Diplo and Skrillex
Justin Bieber and Jack Ãœ have released the colorful collage of a video for their collaboration “Where Are Ãœ Now.” The clip is Bieber-centric, with no cameos from superstars Skrillex and Diplo who comprise Jack Ãœ.
The video opens on an art gallery filled with photos of Bieber’s silhouette before shifting to the singer offering an emotional delivery of the track in a dark room. Bieber eventually becomes covered in animated paint, drawings and caricatures. Back in the gallery, Jack Ãœ fans are providing the illustrations that are appearing over or surrounding Bieber’s body as he sings and dances to the track.
“We are being overwhelmed, in a good way, by the success of ‘Where Are Ãœ Now’ with Justin Bieber, so with the video, we wanted to just take it back to the beginning of the record and essentially create an ode to our fans,” Jack Ãœ offered in a statement. “We walk a fine line by being ‘famous’ and in the public eye, but we are only here because of you, the fans. Justin wrote this record during a tough time in his life, and it comes to us that sometimes, as artists, we are also just objects, and we have to take that as much as we have to create. We all do this for you, respect that you put us here, and it’s Ãœ that made the video.”
While the song has been successful for both Jack Ãœ and Bieber, there has been some backlash from the EDM community. Deadmau5 fired off several tweets on Monday, calling the singer a “fuckbag” and describing the song as “shitty fucking 3rd grade production.” He later noted how “cool” he finds both Skrillex and Diplo, though he hates the song. “It’s just my opinion,” he stated later. “Sad that I even have to point that out as if it wasn’t obvious enough.”
