Watch: March 2017 Cover Shoot feat. Pritam

Bollywood's most controversial composer appears on the cover of our 9th anniversary special issue

Turns out Bollywood’s busiest and most successful music composer is also its goofiest. Laughing between shots, Pritam is utterly fun to work with as he shoots his first cover with ROLLING STONE India. Considered Bollywood’s go-to person for guaranteed hits, Pritam has composed for over 100 films in his 15 year-long career. He is also responsible for causing a sonic upheaval of sorts in the early Noughties that saw the emergence of a unique, youthful mainstream-meets-cool sound of Bollywood.

While the composer might be the reigning king of Bollywood music today, it’s not been an easy road to the crown. During his early years, accusations of plagiarism plunged the producer into a bucket of controversy, dragging his name into ridicule for years to come and casting a shadow that lingers upon him even today amongst internet trolls. The composer addresses all of these things and much more in our insightful cover story, which also features inputs from industry bigwigs Amit Trivedi, Ehsaan Noorani and Sajid Ali.
