Watch Maroon 5 Perform Brooding ‘Cold’ on ‘Fallon’
Adam Levine also detailed new alcohol business venture, friendship with Sammy Hagar
Maroon 5 performed their melancholy new single “Cold” on Tuesday’s Tonight Show. Adam Levine’s silky falsetto over James Valentine’s palm-muted guitar riff brought the song to a brooding high.
In a sit-down interview, Levine told Jimmy Fallon about his new business venture with Sammy Hagar, a tequila-mezcal hybrid called Santo Mezquila. “[Hagar] came into my life at a really funny time,” Levine said. “I was actually on my honeymoon in Cabo. We actually wound up hanging out, drinking a little bit of tequila, talking and instantly hitting it off and becoming really good friends.”
While Future appears on the studio version of “Cold,” released in February, the rapper was unavailable for the late-night take. Pop hit-maker Benny Blanco co-wrote and co-produced both “Cold” and the band’s other recent hip-hop collaboration, the Kendrick Lamar-featured “Don’t Wanna Know.” Maroon 5 have yet to announce a follow-up to their fifth LP, 2014’s V.
