The South Korean septet continue the story arc sparked within their 2017 "Dramarama" music video
South Korean boy group Monsta X continue the fictional story arc they first sparked with their 2017 video for “Dramarama” in their latest release, “Find You.” The track dropped on October 22nd and is the first single from the group’s upcoming EP Follow: Find You which is set for release on October 28th.
The music video is centered around vocalist Hyungwon who also plays a pivotal role in “Dramarama.” The clip starts with all the members of Monsta X having fun hanging out together at an arcade before Hyungwon’s parents come to pick him up at the end of the night. On their way home, the vocalist and his parents get into a car crash and Hyungwon is the only survivor, devastated at the notion that he is now alone. As he recovers, he is seen spending his time by himself at home and taking medication. His friends–the rest of Monsta X–all show up out of the blue for an impromptu sleepover, determined to cheer him up and pull him out of his self-imposed isolation.
When the other members fall asleep however, Hyungwon makes his way to his father’s office and examines a peculiar watch–previously seen in 2017’s “Dramarama,” 2018’s “THE CONNECT: D.” As he turns the watch’s crown he is plunged into water and seems to float through time as clips from previous connected videos flash across the screen. Back in his original timeline, the rest of Monsta X have realized he has disappeared and search for him to no avail. The video ends with the iconic imagery of Hyungwon’s silhouette bracketed by glittering rain from “Dramarama.”
The synth-pop track is soft and melancholic, mirroring the mood of the video, and the lyrics revolve around a feeling of longing for a loved one who is no longer within reach: “In the distance between us that has grown wider/In the leftover image of you that I cannot erase/Clear and vivid dream, I’m also like crazy today/You keep on hoping, someday we’ll meet again.”
