Watch Mystifying New ‘Dr. Strange’ Trailer From Comic-Con

A huge day for blockbuster teasers and trailers concluded at Comic-Con Saturday with Marvel’s Hall H presentation and the arrival of a new preview for the upcoming Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the neurosurgeon-turned-Sorcerer Supreme.

Like the mind-altering first teaser that dropped in April, the latest look at Doctor Strange continues to focus on the mystic arts and stunning skyline-bending visual effects as opposed to hand-to-hand combat and big explosions. Strange’s origin story takes center stage as its revealed how the surgeon transforms into a superhero: “Study and practice, years of it,” he says.There’s also some levity to all the black magic: When Stephen Strange is handed a card with a strange word (“Shamballa”) written on it, he asks whether it’s his mantra. “The Wi-Fi password,” Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mondo retorts. “We’re not savages.”

Doctor Strange is out November 4th.

During the Doctor Strange panel, Tilda Swinton addressed criticisms that her character “the Ancient One” “whitewashes” the original of Asian descent from the comic book. “The truth is, anyone of us could be the Ancient One.” Swinton said (via The Hollywood Reporter). “The Ancient One is a title.”

Other news to come out of Marvel’s Hall H presentation included confirmation that Oscar-winning Room actress Brie Larson would star as Captain Marvel in an upcoming film. New footage of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 and Spider-man: Homecoming was also shown to attendees, though no video of those sneak peeks has emerged. Finally, Marvel shared some plot details and casting news regarding two more films on their slate,Â Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther.
