Watch Nelly Furtado’s Hazy ‘Pipe Dreams’ Video

Singer-songwriter stares in mirrors throughout VHS-quality new clip

Dec 21, 2016

Nelly Furtado’s “Pipe Dreams” video shows the pop singer looking at her reflection through a hazy, VHS-quality lens. The single will appear on her upcoming album, The Ride.

Furtado walks through a house, watching static on a television screen, looking into various reflections and at the decorations adorning the house. She’s often looking out the window of the home, singing pensively. The clip ends with an extended shot of her staring at herself in a mirror. “Pipe Dreams” was the second preview of The Ride, which will be released on March 3rd.

Furtado released “Islands of Me,” a synth-pop dance track from the same album. Her upcoming LP will be her seventh full-length and first release since 2012’s The Spirit Indestructible. St. Vincent collaborator John Congleton produced the new album. Furtado has also recently worked with Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes. The pair released the single “Hadron Collider” via cassette in 2015 before it appeared on Hynes’ 2016 album Freetown Sound.
