New single from Brit pop band included on 'Bridget Jones' Baby' original motion picture soundtrack
Years & Years aren’t shy when it comes to their brand of buoyant British electro-pop. Their first album, Communion, debuted at Number One in the U.K. in 2015 and hits “King” and “Shine” were stuck on repeat at many a house party that same summer. And in the new video for their latest track, “Meteorite,” frontman Olly Alexander turns up the sparkle factor by wearing a resplendent gender-bending frock for his flamboyant moves.
The sparkly ensemble was made using 86,000 Swarovski crystals and the band’s stylist, Coline Bach, commissioned the bespoke outfit from fashion designer Lara Jensen. While Alexander employs solo voguing moves, the video also features bandmates Emre Turkmen and Mikey Goldsworthy in the upbeat group choreography.
The dance tune is the first new music from the Brit pop stars since their huge breakout last year and the track is included on the soundtrack for Bridget Jones’ Baby, which also features songs by Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran, Lily Allen and Annie Lennox. The band plans to start on their much-anticipated sophomore album later this year.
