New Delhi singer-songwriter Prabhtoj Singh informs us that he began singing at the age of six. From being part of his school’s choir to going on to bag plenty of accolades with his college band, Singh says, “It’s funny because I never took any formal training in singing back then.” Over the last 12 months, the musician released two singles; the blues-rock offering “Lovesick Puppy” and the acoustic ditty “You Belong with Me.” Now, Singh is out with his latest track, the poignant “Angela,” accompanied by an impassioned music video.

Singh penned the first verse to the new song while waiting in transit at Pune airport. According to him, lyrically the song is quite straightforward. He says, “I wanted to keep it as innocent and simple as the person that I am when it comes to love.” The musician adds, “It constantly talks about wishing to go back in time and wondering if the person you’re thinking about also feels the same way about you.”

The song includes rustic and lush acoustic guitar parts while Singh’s voice shines through beautifully as the track builds up and features a blissful piano solo from Rythem Bansal as well as angelic backing vocals by Tyesha Kohli. “Angela” has been produced by Boston-based singer-songwriter Aman Sagar. Singh tracked guitar at New Delhi’s Ferris Wheel Studios, and he says, “The quality depended on the acoustic guitar I was using and the room I was recording in. So I had to be very patient and I ended up recording only when conditions were more favorable.”

Singh is dressed to the nines for the song’s video, in which he’s seen performing the track with passion while sitting on a couch and also at a gig. Moving forward, the singer-songwriter is plotting to explore different genres of music and dabble with R&B and lo-fi elements. “I’m currently producing and arranging these songs in my studio and I’m really excited to put out this stuff,” he says.
