K-Pop star performs his signature hit for the Obamas
Psy put a seasonal spin on his massive hit “Gangnam Style” at the 31st annual “Christmas in Washington” charity concert, performing for President Obama, the First Family and various other beltway guests. The concert, which benefits the Children’s National Medical Center, aired Friday night on TNT and was taped on December 9th. Other performers included Diana Ross, Smash star Megan Hilty, American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and host Conan O’Brien. Â
In the week before the concert, the Korean pop star became the focus of controversy when reports of his participation in two anti-American concerts held in South Korea in 2002 surfaced. Psy apologized for his remarks at the time, and his performance for the president went on as scheduled. Dressed in red pants and a spangly red sweater, the rapper opened by crooning a few lines of “The Christmas Song” before breaking off to launch into a Christmas-themed version of the song that has now garnered more than one billion views on YouTube
