Watch: Reverrse Polarity Drummer Gautam Deb on Winning at RSMA 2014

The Mumbai-based drummer, also part of Pune experimental metal band Noiseware, talks about his time performing and winning at the Rolling Stone Metal Awards last year

At the fifth annual Rolling Stone Metal Awards last year, it was a tough choice between several categories, but the jury – comprising the likes of Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler and Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick – had some tall praise for all the nominees in the Best Drummer category. Adler was particularly amazed by Mumbai prog/hardcore band Reverrse Polarity, who were nominated [and performed] at RSMA for their self-titled debut album.

Although their drummer Gautam Deb who took home the Best Drummer trophy was the only award to Reverrse Polarity’s name, it was one they would be most proud of, considering Deb beat out the likes of Mumbai thrash/groove metal band Zygnema’s Mayank Sharma, folk metal band The Down Troddence’s Ganesh Radhakrishnan, death metallers Reptilian Death’s Sahil Makhija, death grind band Gutslit’s Aaron Pinto and Delhi-based groove metallers Undying Inc.’s monster drummer Nishant Hagjer. In a short video ahead of the sixth edition of RSMA this year, Deb, who is also part of Pune experimental metal band Noiseware, talks what RSMA means to metallers across the country.

Voting in three public choice awards – Best Band, Best Song and Best Album – is now open. You can vote here.
