'Spring Breakers' director Harmony Korine helms gritty clip
In honor of 4/20, Rihanna has debuted the violent, dark video for latest Anti single “Needed Me,” helmed by Spring Breakers director Harmony Korine.
In the clip, Rihanna shuffles between a gorgeous beachfront mansion and gritty strip club. The pop star totes a gun into the club and, upon finding the man who has presumably wronged her getting a lap dance, shoots him multiple times in the head. Reminiscent of her “Bitch Better Have My Money” video from last year, the singer makes a getaway on a boat after committing the crime.
Korine is best known for his film work, including writing the cult favorite 1995 film Kids starring Chloë Sevigny. He has previously directed music videos for Sonic Youth, Cat Power and the Black Keys and co-wrote Lana Del Rey’s “Florida Kilos” with the singer and her Ultraviolence producer Dan Auerbach.
Soon after releasing Anti, Rihanna embarked on her Anti World Tour. The tour will run through early May in North America before she spends her summer in Europe.
