The New Delhi artist teams up with Gurugram-based singer Chezin, New York’s Sasha Prendes and more
It was by late March that India went into a national lockdown to contain the novel coronavirus’ spread and that’s just around when New Delhi’s Rohan Solomon was nearly ready with his new song “Keep Holding On.”
As much as it’s a soothing pop offering, it also stays true to Solomon – the former frontman of rock band Cyanide – and his conscious songwriting. With this newly formed band By Chance, the producer, singer and guitarist released a trio of singles including “Blue Sky,” “Hard to Breathe” and “Time” which largely dealt with the scale of environmental damage that caused problems such as hazardous air quality and how it’s not too late to take measures to protect the planet.
For “Keep Holding On,” Solomon works with Gurugram singer Chezin aka Chetan Dominic Awasthi and New York City’s Sasha Prendes for vocals, plus social media-famous singing trio The Heichel Sisters from Lexington, Ohio. The accompanying music video takes viewers to Solomon’s studio in Delhi to different musicians across nine countries, including Mexico, Australia and Brazil. Through the video and song, Solomon’s aim is to keep the hope. “It’s about people from different parts of the world coming together and singing together through the digital medium, putting forth a united front saying we’ll beat this and triumph together,” he says.
Solomon added in a statement, “For the first time in recent history, every single human being is being affected by a singular threat. This lockdown has changed everyone’s lives. ‘Keep Holding On’ aims to bring hope to those who may be feeling low or alone, depressed or struggling with cabin fever — which is almost all of us. For now, we can’t stress enough on this… stay home… This too shall pass.”
