The Mumbai-based singer-songwriter performs her favorite tracks at the fourth edition of the music series
Mali performing at the Twitter Blue Room as part of #RollingWith
The fourth edition of #RollingWith, held in association with Twitter India, featured a panel of four renowned women artists at the Blue Room. Playback singers Sona Mohapatra and Shilpa Rao, producer/ DJ Sanaya Ardeshir aka Sandunes and singer-songwriter/guitarist Shubhangi Joshi discussed the underrepresentation of women in music, even as they highlighted their lived experiences as women on stage and in studio. The insightful panel was followed by a performance by Mumbai singer-songwriter Maalavika Manoj aka Mali.
Mali performed an intimate acoustic set, opening with the wistful “Walk Away,” and moving onto “Really? Not Really,” a song about going through a bad phase in life. The singer-songwriter, who released her debut EP Rush exclusively on Rolling Stone India last month, tugged at heartstrings when she played “Dreaming,” a balmy song that chronicles her childhood experiences. Mali closed her short set with the title track “Rush,” drawing a warm applause from everyone in the house.
