Watch Slash Pay Tribute to Lemmy With ‘Ace of Spades’ Cover

"I'm going to miss this guy more than words can express; Rock n Roll personified," guitarist says of Motorhead singer

Amid reports that Guns N’ Roses will reunite at Coachella, Slash along with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators performed a New Year’s Eve gig at Las Vegas’ House of Blues Thursday, where the guitarist paid tribute to Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister with a cover of “Ace of Spades.”

“I’m going to miss this guy more than words can express; Rock n Roll personified & the embodiment of everything it stands for & a truly good friend. RIP Lemmy,” Slash wrote on Instagram after Kilmister passed away December 28th after a short battle with cancer. Two weekends before Lemmy’s death, Slash was among the rockers in attendance at Kilmister’s 70th birthday party at Los Angeles’ Whisky a Go Go; the guitarist performed Motörhead’s “(We Are) the Road Crew” with members of Anthrax at the birthday concert.

As Blabbermouth notes, Slash and Lemmy previously teamed on “Doctor Alibi,” a track off Slash’s 2010 self-titled solo album. That same year, Slash and Dave Grohl, who got an “Ace of Spades” tattoo following Lemmy’s death, joined Kilmister for a performance of “Ace of Spades” at the Revolver Golden God Awards. Grohl, Slash and Lemmy joined up again, this time for a cover of Chuck Berry’s “Let it Rock,” at the Foo Fighters’ January 2015 concert at Los Angeles’ the Forum.
