The track leads the group's 11th album, 'The Road: Keep On Going'
With 16 years of friendship and music and a grandiose legacy in the making, veteran K-pop group Super Junior are showing no signs of stopping and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Committed to sharing feel-good music and stories with their fans, members Kyuhyun, Leeteuk, Siwon, Yesung, Ryeowook, Donghae, Eunhyuk, Shindong and Heechul have unveiled a vibrant music video for their summer comeback, “Mango.” Leading the group’s latest album The Road: Keep On Going, the release makes Super Junior the first group under SM Entertainment to release 11 albums, setting a new milestone for them. They are now one of the longest-running idol groups in the K-pop industry.
Written by Kang Eun-jung, “Mango” is a flirty summer anthem that portrays Super Junior as an oasis with bottomless love to shower their fans with. Stylistically, the track draws inspiration from the realms of pop-funk, oozing bright and rhythmic synth. “Mango” offers listeners a solid sonic shift from Super Junior’s February 2022 alternative-rock ballad “Callin'” that saw the group tap into the growing popularity of the genre. While “Callin'” explored the various facets of winter-time melancholy and loneliness, “Mango” is right in time for summer with its bright soundscape and style.
Employing bright, contrasting hues and summer motifs, the music video has spellbinding cinematography that is pleasing to the eyes. Dressed down in breezy summer ensembles, the Super Junior members display their knack for choreographed routines as they sing, “I am your oasis, come enter your heaven/ Sweet just like a mango, it feels so nice/ Instantly melts on your lips/ Sweet just like a mango/ I want you to want me.” The music video also includes the occasional burst of fruits via VFX, further enhancing the summer appeal of the track.
Earlier today, the group held a global press conference to commemorate the release of their 11th album via a private stream on YouTube. Streamed from 11 am KST, the group created an exuberant atmosphere brimming with humor (especially from Siwon and Shindong), laughter and admiration for one another. Their bond and comfort level undeniably mirrors the group’s plans of staying together. During the event, Super Junior expressed their gratitude to their fans and SM Entertainment for supporting them throughout their journey. The group also shared their enthusiasm to meet their fans in person during their forthcoming world tour series, Super Show, and stressed they will keep performing as a group for as long as possible.
Reflective of the group’s present, The Road: Keep On Going consists of four additional tracks titled “Don’t Wait,” “My Wish,” “Everyday” and “Always.” A second volume of the album is anticipated to release soon.
With hits like “Sorry Sorry,” “Mr. Simple,” “Bonamana,” Mamacita,” “Lo Siento” and more, Super Junior have been instrumental in spreading the Hallyu Wave and continue to demonstrate an unshakable willingness and grit to continue growing and adding pages to the history of K-pop.
