The last time California rockers Switchfoot were in India, it was for their debut tour of the country over three years ago. This past weekend the alt rock band returned to perform at Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Meghalaya as well as the express edition of the festival held in Kolkata.
At the express edition in Kolkata’s Nicco Park, which hasn’t seen such a large scale event by Weekender for some time in the city, the band belted out hits like “Dare You To Move,” “Your Love Is A Song” and even the power ballad “Where I Belong” for which the band invited city-based percussionist Sambit Chatterjee (from metallers What Escapes Me, Noiseware and rockers The Ganesh Talkies) to join them perform the track.
Switchfoot’s vocalist-guitarist Jon Foreman stated that India is “where I belong” before kicking off the song with light guitar plucking. Chatterjee joined in next with delicate hits on his tabla, adding a unique sound to the band’s 2011 sing-along track from their album Vice Verses.
