The thrash metal veterans’ guitarist talks about RSMA nominees
When American thrash metal veterans Testament made their India debut in Bengaluru at the 2012 edition of the NH7 Weekender, it was a much-awaited chance for lead guitarist Alex Skolnick to explore India.
Skolnick, who is also a jazz guitarist, wrote a Bollywood-inspired song [“Bollywood Jam”] for his 2011 album Veritas with the Alex Skolnick Trio. Last month, the guitarist started jamming with Indian fusion guitarist Prasanna Ramaswamy for a project called Raga Metal Conversations [more on that later]. Skolnick’s interest for metal and India led us to ask him to be part of the jury for the fifth edition of the Zippo Presents Rolling Stone Metal Awards [vote here].
