Watch Weeekly’s Make A Bold Comeback With ‘Ven para’

The latest release leads the South Korean girl group’s first single album ‘Play Game: AWAKE’

Mar 07, 2022

Composed of members Lee Soojin, Shin Jiyoon, Monday, Park Soeun, Lee Jaehee, Jihan, and Zoa, K-pop girl group Weeekly switches for bolder themes in their latest single “Ven Para.” Leading the septet’s first single album, Play Game: AWAKE, the fresh single marks their comeback in seven months following the release of their EP Play Game: Holiday.

Written by BlueRhythm, Jo Yoon Kyung, Charlotte Wilson, Jan Baars and Ayushy and Awry from THE HUB, Weeekly’s “Ven Para” brings the grooviness of vintage hip hop and bass sounds, fashioning a compulsive aural experience. The mature soundscape is a fresh take on the group’s sonic identity as they shift from the bright, girl crush concept explored in their viral, breakout single “After School” to a suave space where we get to hear their unique vocal capabilities and grasp over powerful choreographed routines.

In line with the overarching theme of confidence, “Ven Para’s” lyrical structuring exudes boldness and sauciness as the group sing about their unstoppable energy and drive: “Oh, look at the bright light/ I’m like morning light/ Now, open your eyes, your eyes, all right/ I’ll show you more amazing miracles, everyday/ Sunshine for you.”

Based on a celestial-inspired concept, the music video positions the group as the sun. With planets orbiting around the group and rapid jump cuts between the blazing sun and Weeekly, the group’s fierce concept, embodies their refined artistry and growth.

Led by “Ven Para,” Weeekly first single album Play Game: AWAKE” comprises two additional tracks titled “Solar ” and “Where is My Love?”
