Zedd and Alessia Cara have unveiled the lyric video for their song “Stay.” The video boasts picturesque backdrops as the lyrics flash across the screen.
The danceable, melodic tune features staccato, crisp drum beats and the sounds of ticking hands of a clock that echo the anthemic lyric’s themes of passage of time. The song plays as a series of beautiful desert and mountain scenery footage flashes by, some of which features mirrors that further reflect the idyllic setting.
“All you have to do is stay a minute,” Cara croons. “Just take your time/ The clock is ticking, so stay/ All you have to do is wait a second/ Your hands on mine/ The clock is ticking, so stay.”
“Alessia and I first met at rehearsals for the HALO Awards, where Alessia, Daya and I performed together,” Zedd wrote in a post accompanying the video on YouTube. “I’ve loved her songs before but realized that she’s an unbelievable talent when we started rehearsing together, so I asked her if she was interested in making music with me.”
Zedd, who was born in Russia and lives in Germany, has planned a benefit concert for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which will take place on April 3rd. He recruited 13 artists including Incubus, Imagine Dragons and Skrillex, who are all playing for free at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
