The beginning sequence of Rogue Nation starts with Cruise seemingly holding onto the side of a plane while it takes off. Of course, it was filmed practically at an airport in the United Arab Emirates with an Airbus A400M military transport plane.

Speaking of opening sequences, the second movie in the franchise starts with Cruise climbing a 2,000 ft high vertical rock face in New South Wales, Australia. Cruise trained for several months, which seems to have paid off as the stunt was completed in a single take.

During the heist scene in Rogue Nation, Cruise was required to hold his breath for six minutes in order to gain access to a submerged computer. The stunt was performed by the actor himself, with months of preparation and with the help of professional divers.

The fourth movie in the instalment put back the Mission Impossible series on the map again, with the highlight of the movie being Ethan Hunt hanging off Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Cruise climbed up the 2,700 feet tall building to do the scene practically, cementing his status as the best action hero of all time.
