A Timeline of Prateek Kuhad's Evolution

PLAYLIST

The Jaipur-born, New Delhi/New York-bred singer-songwriter released his self-titled English EP in 2011. Kuhad’s Hindi EP Raat Raazi was out in 2013, drawing from artists like Nick Drake and The Tallest Man on Earth.

In Tokens & Charms

Although gentle and unhurried, his acoustic songwriting took him to festivals such as Escape and Bacardi NH7 Weekender starting 2013. In late 2014, Kuhad launched his debut full-length In Tokens & Charms in 2015.

Big Gigs

The fuller, richer folk/indie sound and hummable hooks landed him nationwide tours as well as a support slot for British band Alt-J in 2015, pop artist Mike Posner in 2017 and Anderson. Paak in 2018.

Big Hits

Hindi songs like “Tune Kaha” and “Tum Jab Paas” allowed Kuhad to break new ground. His 2016 song “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan” with Jasleen Royal from the Bollywood film Baar Baar Dekho marked big moves

Cold/Mess

His 2018 sweeping, heartbreaking song “Cold/Mess” off the EP of the same name brought global acclaim, making to former U.S. president Barack Obama’s Favorite Music of 2019 playlist.

The Way That Lovers Do

Kuhad signed to Elektra Records in 2020 and released the more vibrant pop album The Way That Lovers Do in May 2022. It was followed by a world tour across several regions.
