The Irish pop group will perform in Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Bengaluru between November 24th and 26th as part of The Wild Dreams Tour
Irish pop group Westlife will make their way back to India about 20 years later, riding on a wave of early 2000s nostalgia on the live concerts front. Vocalists Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Mark Feehily are slated to perform in Mumbai on November 24th, in Bengaluru on November 25th and in New Delhi on November 26th as part of The Wild Dreams Tour’s India leg, produced and promoted by BookMyShow.
Best known for their renditions of popular songs like “Uptown Girl” and “Seasons In The Sun,” plus their own songs like “World Of Our Own,” the quintet — originally including Brian McFadden — dominated airwaves globally when it came to English pop from the late Nineties and early 2000s. They performed at the MTV Immies in 2003 in India. While McFadden left in 2004 and the group announced a split in 2012, they reunited in 2018 and have since released albums like Spectrum and Wild Dreams.
Westlife said about their upcoming shows in a statement, “India has always held a special place in our hearts. We are so excited to share The Wild Dreams tour with all of our fans in India. Get ready for an unforgettable night of music and memories with us!”
The boy band’s India tour announcement marks one of a handful of pop groups from the late Nineties and early 2000s capitalizing on renewed interest in the country. Early this year, American pop act Backstreet Boys performed two shows in India, while U.K. group Blue will be in India next week for Beatstreet festival in New Delhi, followed by Boyzone’s Ronan Keating hitting three cities in November.
While an exclusive pre-sale for tickets to the Westlife shows will commence on September 15th, general tickets will go live on September 17th at 4 pm IST. Ticket prices start from ₹3,500 for general admission and ₹12,500 for lounge access.
