What We Can Expect from the Upcoming K-Drama ‘Queen of Tears’
It features Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won portraying two dominant characters who get closer in an endeavor to overcome a crisis
Young married couple Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) and Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won) conquer a crisis, which leads to an intriguing love tale. In his capacity as legal director for the mammoth Queens Group, Baek is the most accomplished person to have ever come from his hamlet and its proudest member. Hong, nicknamed the “Arrogant Queen,” is a member of the family that owns and operates Queens Group. That encapsulates Queen of Tears, one of the most eagerly anticipated Korean dramas of 2023.
There’s no denying, in my opinion, that the lead actors are instrumental in piquing our interest in this corporate romantic drama far in advance of its debut. All I’m able to say at this point is that, given the characters that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won play, the series will be replete with dramatic moments between two strong individuals. As integral members of their organization, the Queens Group, they may be seen outperforming one another in the opening act of the story.
It makes perfect sense that intense rivalry between people who are on an equal footing might lead to both attraction and hostility. Two factions might destroy whatever stands in their path if they want to succeed in a highly competitive setting. The amazing thing about this is that rivalry frequently results in a closer bond between two individuals. This might apply to Queen of Tears in the story’s later parts.
Accordingly, I predict that this K-drama will likely be another haters-to-lovers story, but one that undoubtedly has plenty of originality and hints at contrasts. The drama will inevitably be captivating given that the story is written by the talented Park Ji-eun – who has authored mega-hit cult classics like My Love from the Star, The Legend of the Blue Sea, and Crash Landing on You – and that directors Jang Young-woo (of Crash Landing on You fame) and Kim Hee-won (known for Vincenzo) are in charge of the project.
Getting back to the main characters, Kim Soo-hyun is all about constantly changing patterns, accepting fresh perspectives, and aspiring to be the finest artist he can be. Each performance he delivers beats the last because he gives his characters heart and understands who they are. Kim Ji-won is a celebrated star in a similar vein; she epitomizes the idea of someone with an exceptional record. She has worked tirelessly to tap into her creative potential by skilfully digging deep into her emotions and using her creative abilities. It seems obvious that the results of the two heavy hitters working together will be sublime.
I’m most excited to see how the characters interact romantically. It occurs to me that Queen of Tears might as well be a healing K-drama with quite a few cathartic elements, granted that the story will discuss a crisis. I’m certain it will be incredibly interesting to see Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won go through the paces in an endeavor to get through trying situations and build romantic connections in the process. As colleagues or as a couple, they will surely have great banter and great chemistry. I have a feeling that this love story will be especially powerful.
In summary, Queen of Tears promises to be an impressive effort thanks to its theme, star power, and excellent storytelling. I’m eagerly awaiting its release; it’s scheduled to air in the second half of this year.
